BASEBALLERS braved the icy conditions at the weekend in round 13 of Latrobe Valley A grade baseball.
Traralgon Redsox faced the Morwell Cougars and the game was decided quickly as the Redsox jumped out to a commanding lead with 12 runs in the first three innings.
Cougars’ Darren Flanigan had the only hit and scored Morwell’s only run for the game as the Redsox pitchers controlled the game.
Josh Graham for the Redsox had four from four with the bat and was backed up with the team having 18 for the day.
The Redsox ran out winners 16-1 with best for Redsox, Graham, Brad Pratt and Jordan Gilmore.
For the Cougars, Flanigan and Brandon Mayberry played well.
South Gippsland Miners took on the Moe-Newborough Dodgers and the might of the Dodgers held sway over the Miners in a punishing affair.
The Dodgers racked up runs with the Miners only managing to trouble the scoreboard with one run.
The Dodgers were victorious 26-1.
Churchill Braves travelled to Sale to take on the Rangers.
Braves pitcher Mat Prior had a day out on the hill and in the batting box.
He went four from four with six RBI’s and struck out nine Ranger batters allowing just two hits in five innings.
The Rangers struck in the sixth inning with three runs, but the damage had already been done with the Braves piling on 17.
Best for the Braves were Prior, Shane Gill and Brad Jones.
For the Rangers, Jack Neesham, Greg Wrigglesworth and Brad Taylor.
