Latrobe City Councillor Christine Sindt says sorry

OUTSPOKEN Latrobe City Councillor Christine Sindt has publicly apologised to Member for Gippsland Darren Chester over a comment she made on her official Facebook page.

On Tuesday night Cr Sindt posted on her page: “I unreservedly apologise for the hurt caused to Darren Chester and his family arising from a Facebook post posted by me on 11 June 2015”.

The Express has elected not to repeat the contents of the June post, however it included a personal attack on Mr Chester after he declared he would support legislation to legalise same-sex marriage.

Mr Chester sent a legal letter to Cr Sindt requesting a retraction and apology. In a media statement late yesterday, Mr Chester said he acknowledged and accepted the apology.

“I believe the matter is now resolved,” he said in the statement.
