Man charged with burglary and theft

A man from interstate will face the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court today charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft.

The man, aged in his 30s, allegedly stole alcohol from a Traralgon cafe  about 2pm on Saturday.

A short time later, he allegedly stole cash from a Traralgon bakery.

Traralgon police remanded the man – who has a number of warrants to his name – in custody that afternoon.

Reminder to drive and act responsibly

LATROBE Police are reminding the community of new legislation that came into place on 1 August this year.

Victoria Police have the right to cease the car of any driver caught with a blood alcohol reading of more than .1, or double the allowed limit.

Acting Sergeant Tim Barlow said police ceased the cars of two drivers at the weekend – one who blew .13 and another who blew .1.

The drivers must now pay $1290 to tow and impound their cars, and face a potential loss of licence plus the original drink driving penalty.

“This is a timely reminder to let people know the new legislation is in place and we can and are ceasing cars where it is appropriate,” Act Sgt Barlow said.

“Remember to take care and act responsibly.”
