The Environment Protection Authority is investigating a spill from the ashing system of GDF SUEZ’s Hazelwood power station.
The authority said GDF SUEZ had on Thursday provided a full account of the spill, which occurred on Tuesday.
“EPA will be addressing this issue of reporting as part of its investigation,” a statement from the authority read.
“The spill, estimated to be around 40,000 litres, is fully contained within the neighbouring Energy Brix site – an EPA licensed facility – and there is minimal risk to the environment.”
EPA officers are inspecting the site to determine if licence conditions have been breached.
The Express is seeking comment from GDF SUEZ.
