Morwell man dies following crash

A 70 year-old man who was trapped in his car for more than an hour after a crash on Tuesday has died.

According to police, the Morwell man was travelling north along Airfield Road about 7.52am when his car veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a tree.

Police, the Country Fire Authority and the State Emergency Service attended the scene, with SES crews using the jaws of life to help free the man from the car.

He was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, but passed away due to his injuries.
