The State Government has launched the Your Guide to Power Outages campaign to help Victorians keep safe during a power outage in bushfires and extreme weather conditions.
The guide sets out simple tips to prepare for a power outage, including putting together a power outage kit containing:
a torch or battery-operated light
a phone that does not rely on electricity (such as a fully-charged mobile phone)
a battery powered radio for news and updates
fresh water (if you rely on an electric pump for water)
the faults and emergencies contact number from your latest electricity bill
Local councils, retailers such as Bunnings and community groups including the Country Women’s Association and the Victorian Farmers Federation are partners in the campaign.

TRARALGON South and District Men’s Shed will purchase new sheet metal tools thanks to a grant worth $4000.
The funding was allocated under round 11 of the National Shed Development Programme.
The money will be used to purchase a bench grinder, buff spindles and soaps, a welding helmet, plasma cutter, hole saw and mig stick razor weld.
TSDMS president Chris Madsen said members would now be able to undertake a wider range of activities.
“The majority of the equipment we have already is for woodworking, and a few of the members have backgrounds in metal work and were keen to do more of this in the shed,” Mr Madsen said.
The men’s shed is home to about 30 members and provides a place for local men to socialise and participate in crafts.
