GIPPSLAND commuters are in their second week of train service cancellations as V/Line rolls out free travel compensation.
Hour-long delays continue with road coaches still replacing trains on the Traralgon line, except for the 5.27am and 6.37am Traralgon-Southern Cross train and the 4.58pm and 5.37pm Southern Cross-Traralgon train.
V/Line spokeswoman Ebony Jordan said free travel on all V/Line train and coach services started on Saturday and would continue until Sunday, 31 January.
“We sincerely apologise to customers for any inconvenience during this period and we’re working to have services returned to normal as quickly as possible,” Ms Jordan said.
Customers who hold a valid myki pass will receive an automatic reimbursement of myki money to their card, equivalent to the nine days of free travel being provided. If travelling with a myki, there is no need to touch on or off. The service has been disrupted since a V/Line high speed train failed to trigger a boom gate at Dandenong on 15 January.
The new VLocity trains have been banned to operate between Pakenham and the city while V/Line investigates the incident and other concerns about wheels wearing rapidly.
