Police officer struck by vehicle

Police attended a residential address in Moe on Friday in an attempt to arrest a 21 year-old man in relation to family violence offences.

According to police, when officers arrived the man was sitting in his car in the driveway of the property.

Police said upon sighting the officers he reversed his vehicle, injuring one officer while another jumped out of the way.

Another unit in attendance initiated a short pursuit which was abandoned near Lloyd Street due to excessive speed and the risk of endangering public safety.

A 21 year-old Moe man is assisting police with enquiries. 

Firearm offence

On Saturday police attended a residential address in Yallourn North in relation to a dispute where a firearm was produced.

Police arrested a 30 year-old man in relation to threats and firearms offences.

He was released pending summons.

Fire damages house

A residential unit was gutted by fire on Saturday about 2.30pm in Jane Street, Morwell.

Police said the cause of the fire was a cigarette or an item similar and was not being treated as suspicious.

There were no injuries.

Country Fire Authority crews attended the property and extinguished the fire.

Man hits police officer

Police received a tip-off on Friday during what appeared to be a burglary in process at a residential address in Churchill.

Churchill police were quick to respond before locating a 34 year-old man inside the house.

It is alleged he smashed a large window and security door to enter the property.

Police said the man was located in a very agitated state where he allegedly struck a police officer in the face.

He was overpowered with capsicum spray before being arrested and taken to Morwell police station.

He was charged with numerous offences including criminal damage and assaulting police.

The man was released on bail and will face court in July.
