Clocked at double the limit

Police have impounded a man’s car after he was clocked allegedly driving more than double the legal speed limit in Moe on Friday night.

It’s believed the vehicle, driven by a 28 year-old Moe man, was recorded at 143 kilometres in a 60km/h zone along Lloyd Street after turning of the Princess Freeway near McDonald’s.

Police intercepted the vehicle about 9.50pm where it’s alleged they found about a gram of a substance, believed to be ice, in the car.

The man was charged with numerous traffic offences and possession of drugs.

His car was impounded for 30 days.

He will face Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court in August.

Police said the man would lose his license for a minimum of 12 months as a result of the incident.

It will cost the owner more than $1100 to retrieve the impounded vehicle.

Wanted man arrested

Police from Morwell, Traralgon, Divisional Tasking Unit and Crime Investigation Unit were involved in an arrest of a man at Glengarry on Tuesday.

The 38 year-old man was wanted by police in relation to a number of offences and warrants.

Police said he was released on bail in January but subsequently failed to comply with any bail conditions.

Since then, it’s alleged he was involved in a number of serious incidents across Latrobe Valley and metropolitan Melbourne area.

Police said the man attempted to run from police at the residence but was located and arrested before he was transported to Morwell police station.

He was remanded in custody to face court in June.
