Police seek owner of collectables

Police are looking for the owner of two collectable items (pictured) that were found in Morwell on Sunday, 26 March.

The first item is a black pouch containing three medals with ‘Freemasons’ and ‘Victorian Council’ inscriptions.

Police said it appeared the owner may have ties to the Freemasons as ‘Life Governor’.

The second item is a gold cigarette lighter with a ‘WIN International’ inscription on it, stored in a maroon box.

Both items appear to be collectables and may be of sentimental value to the owner.

Police are calling for witnesses following a fence fire near a laneway between Newark and Tresswell avenues, Newborough about 11am on Sunday morning.

Police said a small amount of damage was caused to the fence by the fire which is being treated as suspicious.

Moe Fire Brigade attended and extinguished the blaze.

A purse was stolen from a car on Vincent Road in Morwell on Friday 5 May after the vehicle’s window was smashed.

Police allege a piece of metal was used to smash the driver’s side window of the vehicle.

It’s understood the owner heard a noise and after investigating, discovered the window had been broken and purse stolen.

Police said it was a timely reminder for people to remove valuables from vehicles when unattended.

A large rock from a nearby driveway was been used to smash the windows of a car on Princes Drive in Morwell last week, police said.

Police allege a person used a rock to smash the driver’s window of the Nissan Micra, along with both rear passenger windows and rear window itself.

It’s believed the incident happened sometime between 7pm on Friday 5 May and 10.30am the following day.

Police are investigating after an attempted burglary at a house on Comans Street, Morwell last week.

Morwell police said no items were stolen from the property but minor damage was caused to a rear window of the house and shed lock.

The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 6pm Tuesday 2 May and 6pm Friday 5 May.
