A 20 year-old Morwell man has been arrested after allegedly escaping police custody at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the man allegedly fled the court around 12.10pm while on remand.
Shortly after the alleged incident, a police cordon was established near Latrobe Road, Morwell.
About 30 local police responded to the incident before the man was recaptured about 45 minutes later, police said. He was charged with escaping police custody.
Yallourn North car fire
A car fire in Yallourn North on Saturday morning is being treated as suspicious.
Police said a 1997 Ford Falcon was found smouldering by a passer-by about 5.30am.
It’s alleged the car had been set alight sometime before its discovery.

Stolen car
Traralgon police are calling for witnesses after an early model Toyota sedan was stolen from a residential address on Taylor Crescent, Traralgon on the morning of Tuesday, 16 May.
Police said the owner of the vehicle woke to hear the vehicle driving off about 2am.
The registration of the 1988 car is TBQ 339.
