Hazelwood North fatality

Investigations are ongoing after a man died following a collision on Clarkes Road at Hazelwood North on Monday.

Police said the 43-year-old man died at the scene after his car collided with an elevated embankment about 4.40pm on Monday.

Investigators said the station wagon was travelling at a “very fast” speed when it crossed Sanders Road before it struck the embankment.

The passenger, a 38-year-old Traralgon woman who was known to the man, was flown to the Royal Melbourne hospital in a critical condition.

Woman charged

Police have charged a Traralgon woman who is alleged to have stolen prescription medication.

The 51-year-old Traralgon woman was charged with unauthorised access of a computer database with intent to commit a serious offence, including burglary and theft.

The charges follow a three-month investigation into the woman who works in the medical sector.

She is expected to face court later this year.

Car fire at Flynn’s Creek

Detectives are investigating a car fire at a truck stop on the Princes Highway near Flynn’s Creek Road last month.

Police said the vehicle, believed to be a Toyota Tarago, was destroyed in the fire between 9pm and 11pm on February 23.

Suspicious fire

A fire on Brown Coalmine Road near the intersection of Hollander Drive at Yallourn North on Tuesday is being treated as suspicious.

Detectives said the fire burnt about 30 square metres up an embankment about 9.40pm on Tuesday.

The cause of the fire is unknown, police said.
