A three-day appeal hearing will be held in the County Court of Victoria next year for a police officer convicted of unlawfully assaulting a person in custody in September 2017.
Dallas Ross Howell sat in the Latrobe Valley County Court on Wednesday, dressed in tradesman-like clothes, during the administrative hearing aimed at establishing the dates for the appeal.
Howell was charged with unlawfully assaulting Daniel Hornsby, a person in custody, in the Moe police station, in September 2018.
In March this year, the senior constable was convicted in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court with two counts of unlawful assault and placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
