Two people fled a two-car collision Morwell on Sunday.

Investigators were told an unregistered Holden station wagon allegedly collided with a Nissan Navara at the intersection of Haywood Street and Porter Street just before 10pm, on Sunday January 3.

Two unknown occupants of the Holden, a male and a female, fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Witnesses told police the female was carrying a young child, possibly a toddler in a pink dress, when she fled the scene.

Investigators hold concerns for the welfare of the child due to the nature of the collision.

The male driver and male passenger of the Nissan were both taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the Holden was stolen from a nearby address shortly before the crash.
