Police allege Traralgon woman took money from flood and fire relief funds

Police have charged a Traralgon woman following an extensive investigation into multiple payments allegedly received from the Bushfire Relief Fund and the Gippsland Flood Relief Payment Scheme.

A 30-year-old woman allegedly made fraudulent applications using a variety of names and addresses in January, June and July, receiving a total amount of $14,700.

The woman has been charged with nine counts of obtaining property by deception, and three counts of attempting to obtain property by deception.

She has been bailed to appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on March 9.

Victoria Police worked in collaboration with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing as part of the investigation.
