Latrobe City recorded nine new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours up to midnight.
Five were in the 3840 postcode (Morwell district), three in the 3844 postcode (Traralgon district) and one in 3825 postcode (Moe/Newborough district).
That has lifted the tally of active cases in Latrobe City to 130.
Victoria’s chief health officer, Professor Brett Sutton, said the Latrobe Valley and Baw Baw Shire are among those doing well when it comes to vaccination rate growth.
“It is great to see significant growth in vaccination coverage in LGA’s such as Latrobe, Baw Baw, Mitchell, Casey and Greater Dandenong,” Prof Sutton said.
Latrobe City’s first-dose vaccination rate has climbed to 85.5 per cent, just shy of Victoria’s average of 86.7 per cent.
The region’s second-dose vaccination rate is now 55.3 per cent, 4.5 per cent adrift of the state average.
Professor Sutton announced Lowanna College in Newborough would be hosting a pop-up vaccination centre this weekend, offering Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines.
“It is a terrific opportunity to get vaccinated in a setting which is familiar,” Professor Sutton said.
“This service is available to the school community and anyone in the local area, and will be taking walk-ups.”
Regional Victoria recorded 110 new cases in the 24 hours up to midnight, lifting the total of active cases outside metropolitan Melbourne to 1144.
Health Minister Martin Foley said Victoria recorded 1466 new cases and eight deaths in the 24 hours up to midnight.
A total of 675 people are in hospital, 144 are in intensive care, and 100 are on a ventilator.
Only seven per cent of those in hospital are fully vaccinated.
There were 68,509 tests were carried out across the state yesterday.
