There were 1534 new cases recorded across Victoria, a number that COVID response commander Jeroen Weimar said is “encouraging”.
There were 13 deaths recorded.
This brings the total active cases across the state to 24, 164.
There are 748 people in hospital, 138 in intensive care, and 87 are on a ventilator.
Of those in intensive care, 95 per cent were unvaccinated.
Victoria has reached 76.5 double dose for those over 16 years.
A total of 83, 210 tests were processed on Tuesday.
Mr Weimar said he is pleased with Coles and Woolworths’ announcement that from November 1 2021 they will be selling rapid antigen tests.
“Its great to use on a regular basis,” he said.
However, he reminded Victorians that if your rapid antigen test turns positive you must get a PCR test.
Mr Weimar also welcomed announcements about the approval of Pfizer booster shots six months after second doses for people aged 18 and over.
He also warned that the just “under half a million” people not vaccinated are “in real danger of being left behind”.
“Although we expect case numbers to maybe ease off a bit over the coming days. We are expecting them to rise, and they will rise amongst the unvaccinated.”
