Traralgon man released from hospital on Thursday

A Churchill woman, 56, was arrested last night following a pursuit in Morwell.

A TRARALGON man, 38, was released from hospital on Thursday, two days after he was
struck by a red Holden Commodore in Carrum Downs.

It was the same incident which killed Timmy Rakei, 44, who suffered fatal injuries when struck by the car on Hall Road about 7.15am on Tuesday, November 9.

Major Collision Investigation detectives last week charged two men, a 30-year-old from Carrum Downs and a 25-year-old from Carrum Downs for their alleged involvement in the fatal hit-run collision.

 

Body removed from home

THE body of a man, 55 was removed from a property on Wirraway Street, Moe by the
State Emergency Services (SES) at 5.40pm on Sunday, November 7.

The severely decomposed body was located after police attended the residence to perform a welfare check on the person. Police located the man’s body during the check after looking through a window.

The SES were called to remove the body after police were unable enter due to a large
accumulation of personal items inside preventing access to the inside of the home.

Morwell police said the man’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

 

Traralgon house fire

A HOUSE fire on Priestley Court, Traralgon was attended by police at 9am on Thursday,
November 4.

One bedroom had fire damage, while the remainder of the house had smoke damage.

There was one male occupant present at the scene. No injuries were reported.

The fire is still under investigation.

 

Shipping Container fire

FIRE Rescue Victoria called Police to a shipping container fire at an address on
Latrobe Road, Morwell on Thursday, November 4 at 10.25am.

The container housed power tools, batteries and chargers. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, it is believed that the fire originated from an electrical fault.

 

Burnout leads to fine

A BLUE Holden Commodore was intercepted by police after they observed the vehicle
undergoing a sustained loss of traction on Vestan Drive and Saskia Way in Morwell.

The driver was a Morwell man, 20.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days, at a cost of $1105.

He will face court at a later date.

 

Firearm Theft at Traralgon

THREE firearms have been stolen from an address at Rile Range Road in Traralgon South, between July and November 4.

The suspects allegedly cut steel from the rear of the firearm safe to remove the weapons.

Ammunition was not removed from the safe.

A bolt action rifle and two break-open shotguns were stolen. The theft is still under
investigation.

Tanjil South vehicle fire

A HOLDEN Rodeo utility was allegedly set alight at 3.53am at Becks Bridge Road, Tanjil South on Friday, November 5.

The vehicle was originally reported stolen in Trafalgar, and completely destroyed by the fire.

Police appealed for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

 

Caravan break-in at Moe

A WOMAN, 51, allegedly broke into a caravan at Moe Gardens Caravan Park at 11pm on
Saturday, November 6.

The break-in allegedly occurred when two occupants were inside. A male occupant, aged
30 was allegedly assaulted by the intruder.

After being pushed out of the caravan, the woman allegedly returned the same night and
entered the caravan again, stealing medication and a mobile phone from inside.

The woman was arrested by police and the stolen property recovered.

Morwell store break-in

POLICE were called to Powerhouse Donuts, Morwell at 7.54am on Sunday, November 7
after a person allegedly broke into the business at approximately 1.20am the same morning.

The person attempted to break open the door first with a crowbar, before kicking the door in and briefly entering the shop.

They then exited the building within minutes, before returning and leaving carrying items from the business.

The suspect is described as possibly male, wearing a black jumper and a orange hood and
orange horizontal stripes across the body, a black balaclava or mask, gloves, black shoes,
black pants and carrying a crowbar.
