Powerful Redsox too good for Rangers

In a very one-sided game, the Traralgon Redsox came blasting out of the blocks and put up a seven spot and were too strong for Sale Rangers.

All three pitchers, Brad Adams, Luke Hornstra and Linden Goodman combined to shut down Sale allowing one hit for the day to Will Hector.

Traralgon was able to keep the runs ticking over in each inning and by the end of the seventh, had easily accounted for the Rangers in a 19-0 result.

In an all round team hitting display Linden Goodman led the Redsox with 3 hits and Will Hector collecting the only hit for the Rangers.

The scores were Sale 0, Traralgon 19.

Moe/Newborough v Churchill

With both teams undefeated the game at Moe turned into a thriller going the full nine innings with only one run to separate the teams.

Churchill was held scoreless in the first and managed to keep Moe the same with both pitchers doing their jobs.

Churchill’s lower order strung some hits together and put the pressure on the Moe defence which made a wild throw to hand Churchill the lead.

With Moe down five to three going into the seventh inning, the Dodgers scored on a collision play at the home plate and a runner left on second.

Another hit to the outfield saw Ash Poxon trying to score although the relay throw was on target and left it to another collision at the plate with Brad Jones holding on to get the out and turn the momentum around to the Braves again.

The ever capable Mat Prior came to the mound in the bottom of the ninth to close the game out and give Churchill a well played win.

Traralgon v Sale

Sale started the game with a run in the first, only to have the Redsox quickly answer with two of their own but this is where Sale continued to put runs on for the next two innings and after three, Sale led five to three.

In the fourth the Redsox kept Sale off the scoreboard and put themselves in front with four runs batted in.

Sale could only manage to bring across one more and Traralgon added an insurance run to take the game 8-6.

Sale 6, Traralgon 8.

Moe/Newborough v Churchill

Playing catch up for the whole game Churchill allowed Moe to score in the early innings while leaving plenty of runners on base.

A brilliant pitchers’ duel took place after the second inning with Moe reversing the trend and started to leave runners stranded as the Braves managed to bring runs in.

With scores at four to three Churchill was able to drive two runs in but time would be the enemy as it could not complete the innings and had the score reverted

back to the original four to three scoreline with Moe emerging as victors.
