Blues prepare to brave Kangaroos

NETBALL

Minor premiers Rosedale will meet Heyfield on North Gippsland Football Netball League grand final day.

The Kangaroos recovered from their qualifying final loss to Gormandale to topple the Tigers with a six-goal victory in the preliminary final.

Heyfield and Rosedale have met on two occasions this season in round five and 16, with the ledger at one-all.

Rosedale’s Bron Tebb capped off a strong season by winning the league best and fairest award, and teammate Lorelle Lowe was named in the A grade league team of the year.

The same accolade was bestowed on Heyfield’s Emma Wojcinski and Sarah Schellen after a stellar season.

The sisters from Heyfield polled second and third respectively behind Tebb in the league vote count.

After bundling Gormandale out last Saturday, the Kangaroos’ past month has been near faultless, however coach Kara Wheeler would be fully aware of the challenge that awaits her side.

In other grades, Traralgon Tyers United takes on Woodside in B grade, minor premier Gormandale meets second-placed TTU in C grade, in D grade Churchill meets Glengarry and will be looking to win its first premiership since 2001.

Sale City looks poised to claim its fourth under 17 title in as many seasons when it meets Yarram in its inaugural NGFNL season, and in the under 15s, the undefeated TTU will meet Sale City.
