A TWO hour void in the Gippsland Soccer League finals schedule was observed yesterday at Latrobe City Sports Stadium when the youth game between Falcons 2000 and Sale United was not staged due to an ongoing appeal.
Monash SC protested its loss to Falcons 2000 in the league semi-final with the belief the Morwell club fielded an ineligible player for the tie.
The GSL’s independent discipline officer upheld the protest, which Falcons then appealed.
However, a three person appeals tribunal was unable to be formed prior to GSL grand final day, and the matter will be resolved tonight or tomorrow ahead of a midweek grand final at Churchill.
Despite the extended break, the GSL finals crowd was larger than last year prior to the senior kick off.
