Date with The Cleaner

PETER Gelagotis trained Mourinho will line up to defend the JRA Cup at Moonee Valley tomorrow, after taking out the group three race last year.

The stable will mount a two-pronged attack on the field, with Hvasstan also likely to take his place in the 2040 metre event.

The pair has enjoyed an ideal preparation, taking out a quinella in the $80,000 1500m handicap at Moonee Valley last month with Mourinho in first.

Cox Plate contender The Cleaner will likely start as favourite for the JRA Cup, but Gelagotis is looking forward to another tight tussle after Mourinho recently ran second to the Mick Burles gelding.

“(We’re) looking forward to Friday night’s race and the rematch with The Cleaner,” he said.

The JRA Cup is the eighth race on tomorrow’s card.
