HORSE RACING
ANOTHER Country Cup went begging for Hvasstan on Saturday when the Moe trained horse ran 12th at Ballarat.
The Peter Gelagotis trained Fastnet Rock colt received a “horror” draw and ran from the outside barrier in the $200,000 Ballarat Cup.
Jockey Craig Newitt was unable to overcome the wide draw and $19 price tag, with Paul Jones-trained Mujadale taking the victory.
Hvasstan was out of sorts in a poor run at the Moe Cup, but bounced back with a sixth and fourth at Moonee Valley and Flemington respectively in his two previous runs leading up to Ballarat.
