Reserves redemption for Eagles

MAFFRA spoiled Traralgon’s football flag frenzy in the reserves with a convincing 11.9 (75) to 4.11 (35) grand final victory.

The Maroons were on track to keep the club’s winning streak alive with a 14-point lead at half-time before the minor premier surged in the third.

The Eagles piled on 5.3 (33) to 1.4 (10) to seize a 16-point advantage by the final change and never looked back, taking revenge for last season’s grand final loss against the same opponent.

Dylan Alexander and Charlie Driffield were exceptional for the east Gippslanders, but it was big body Macklin Raine who took out the best on ground medal.
