Traralgon’s Jemma Ashe is set to represent Victoria at the national Foundation Cup in January after winning her place on the state team through a series of trials in Geelong.

Fresh from filling the number one slot on Traralgon’s Super 12 all-star roster at Melbourne Park, Jemma will join the state team of eight at Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club in Victoria.

The Foundation Cup gives children 13 and under from rural and regional Australia the opportunity to compete nationally.

Tournaments and events manager at Tennis Victoria Andrew Reynolds, said the Victorian team was excited to be playing on home soil.

“This is such a great event for some of our most talented country players to play together as a team,” Reynolds said.

“The 2016 team fields an exceptionally strong team, which is very even across all players. I wish them success and a great tournament.”

The best and fairest male and female players will each receive a $1000 cheque to assist with their tennis development.
