The 2016 AFL Victoria Country V/Line Cup and Youth Girls Shield will return to the Latrobe Valley this September.
According to Latrobe City Council, last year’s four-day premier regional junior football carnival generated about $2.1 million for the Valley economy.
About 14 male and eight female teams competed against the best in their age group last year, with about 3000 participants expected to flock to this year’s carnival, to be held from 26 to 29 September.
Visitation levels to Latrobe City soared to more than 6500 additional intrastate tourists, while a further 317 locals supported the event after the carnival was moved from Melbourne to a regional centre for the first time last year.
