Hawk flies highest in Mid Gippsland

Morwell East ruckman Andrew Brown took out the Elder-Berwick Medal on Monday night as MGFL best and fairest.

He polled two votes in the final round after being level with Yinnar’s Jaime Aitken to finish with 21 votes.

Brown is in his first season with Morwell East after being coaxed out of retirement by Hawks coach Colin King, a former teammate at Churchill.

Aitken had a tremendous season with Yinnar to run second on 19 votes and Robert Cahill of Yarragon was third with 16 votes.

It was a dead-heat in the reserves as Newborough’s Aaron Wilson and Yarragon’s Ben Fleming shared the Joe Redmond Medal with 16 votes.

Runners up were Daniel Drowley (Newborough) and Reece Malcolmson (Yinnar) on 14 votes.
