Grand final replay on the cards

The Traralgon and District Cricket Association 2016-17 season gets underway with a replay of last year’s grand final between Gormandale and Ex Students on Saturday.

While in previous years this has always produced a great clash, the Sharks go in as favourites.

Gormandale could potentially drop down the ladder this season after the grand finalist lost about six players.

Ex Students welcomed back star player Lee Stockdale and while the Sharks seem to have lost Greg Munro, it will take a great deal to overpower this team.

Despite losing Kurt Holt, MTY Raiders will be bolstered by some overseas imports and look likely to finish in the top three.

Glengarry will have the top four in its sights after picking up Adam Brady from Gormandale as playing coach.

Centrals have lost Jamie Hall and having just missed finals last year will again fight it out for a top six spot.

CATS has signed three new players and should be in for a much improved season.

It will have its sights set on finals.

Toongabbie will be the biggest improver after an influx of players.

Rob Wheildon is a class player and the Rams will be back playing finals this year.

The Imperials look to have recruited well with gun Sale-Maffra player Josh Rurawhe as the big inclusion, along with Matt Hibbs.

Churchill has welcomed back star player John Keighran, and with the recruitment of Holt, the Cobras are in shape to fight for a spot in the finals. Rovers have welcomed Kevin Stoddart and Todd Mann and with an abundance of teenagers coming through this side will improve greatly.

Traralgon West will be looking to build and with some new recruits on the cards the Eagles could climb the ladder.
