Thorpdale scored a surprise win over Newborough in the Central Gippsland Cricket Association’s second grade as the Bulldogs batted first and ran up 9/170.
Royce Colgrave made 51 at the top of the order while former club captain Mark Whitney chipped in with an invaluable 43 not out down the order.
Harley O’Connell was the Blues best bowler with 4/25.
Newborough struck early and often but could not remove opener James Durkin and by the time Daniel Farmer had him out caught for 74 the damage was already done.
Zac O’Connell’s 40 took the Blues past the target as the overs ran out in a thrilling conclusion, with Farmer’s superb 4/26 going unrewarded.
