A smorgasbord of family-friendly action is on offer for race-goers at this year’s Traralgon Cup, which is shaping as the biggest yet.

A jewel in the crown of racing in Gippsland, the Traralgon Cup has something for everyone and kids are in for an extra special treat on December 2.

“Our main focus is around making this a family day and one for the kids,” Latrobe Valley Racing Club manager Rodney Stephens said.

“This year we’ve got more than $10,000 worth of kids’ rides with jumping castles, bungee jumping, mini golf, face painting, karaoke and a playground – and they’re all free.”

In addition to the free rides and activities, there will be food trucks, bar and betting facilities, EFTPOS facilities and free coffee.

There are also limited dining packages and umbrellas available for purchase and a free bus service will run.

“It is going to be a fantastic day for families to come along and we’ve got an eight-race card including the feature Traralgon Cup,” Stephens said.

“Hopefully we get some good weather.”

Race-goers can show their style in fashions on the field which will include categories for men, women, children and best couple.

Local students will also be running a hair and beauty area for fashions on the field participants.

“We want to promote local and get local people coming back to what is a great event in the Latrobe Valley,” Stephens said.

“We’ve done a lot of updating here in our dining room and members area and a lot of work on the ground and the state of the grounds to get it back to how it was.

“We’re really calling on local people to come and support a local club, and not for profit and get people back into the excitement of racing.”

The Traralgon Cup will be on Sunday, December 2 at the Latrobe Valley Racing Club on McNairn Road, Traralgon.

Gates open at 11am and entry is $15 for adults and free for children under 16.

Packages are available for families with two adults and two children.
