Panthers face a big chase

A great day with the ball could see Moe and Traralgon West secure outright wins while Yallourn North are still in with a big shout of claiming first innings points at home to Centrals.

Moe 304 v Jeeralang-Boolarra

MOE are in a commanding position heading into the second day of its match against the Panthers.

Andrew Philip’s 147 carried the Lions to a first innings lead of 304 with the visitors set to begin its reply when play resumes at Ted Summerton Reserve.

Jeeralang-Boolarra was skittled for 57 in Round 6 and scored 166 when the sides faced off in Round 4 which indicates it could be a tough day for Ben Heath’s charges.

Traralgon West 6/232 v Trafalgar

If Trafalgar’s top order is able to get off to a good start, a first innings victory won’t be off the cards despite trailing by 232 runs at the halfway mark.

Traralgon West will look to key paceman Ben Edebohls for the spark needed to thwart the Ships’ chase.

Yallourn North 0/15 v Centrals 166

Centrals will be disappointed with its efforts against bottom-placed Yallourn North with the Bombers needing another 151 runs to claim first innings points.

Openers Matt Wakefield (14) and Chris Perry (zero) return to the crease and a strong knock from the former could lay a platform for Yallourn North to get a first win of the season.
