THE penultimate round of the season saw Drouin defeat Newborough which leaves second place on the ladder open as Newborough welcomes top team Traralgon this Saturday.
DIVISION 1
NEWBOROUGH travelled to Drouin and for the home team Samantha Atkinson and her rink of Steve Barr, Jan Aubrey and Mick Fleming had had a 31-13 win over Tommy Lodge and his rink of Barry Daley, Craig Thornton and Scott Jones.
Sheryl Atkinson and her rink of Graeme Aubrey, Maureen Leighton and Les Firth had a 21-18 win over Nosha Michaels and his rink of Jo-Anne Michaels, Rod Lewis and John Backman.
Kevin Lovett and his Newborough rink of Brian Carpenter, Tony Knipping and George Lambos defeated Mark Atkinson and his rink of Bruce Andrews, Col Finger and John Leighton 23-19. Alan Grubb and his rink of Josh Kennedy, Bob Goldie and Ryan Marston had a 27-24 win over Toby Wallace and his rink of Denise Hamilton, Arthur Moore and Dale Hendrick.
Drouin 14-95 defeated Newborough 4-81
VINCE McIlwain and his rink of Shane Chapman, Abe Roeder and Chris Ward had a 36-12 win over Graeme Davis, Phil Mustoe and his rink of Chris Thomas, Ian Hilsley and Damien Barnes had a 37-22 win over Dave Smith.
James Scullin and his rink of Ron Sherlock, Maurie Sutcliffe and Pat Trewin defeated Matt
Schreyer 34-19.
For Warragul, Andrew Glover had a 25-24 win over Matt Ferrari.
Traralgon 16-131 defeated Warragul 2-78
MOE had a much needed win over Morwell Club and must win next week against Traralgon RSL to have any hope of remaining in Division 1 next season.
Sandy Caines and his rink of Paul Louis Read, Bob Rennie and Barry Hawkett had a 29-14 win
over Brett Harle.
Steve Pallot and his rink of Ian Caines, David Mander and Michael Smogavec won 29-17 over
Rod Smith.
Morwell Club had a winner in Glenn Trembath who defeated Jayde Leech 28-25 and David Stevens and Ted Kuklinsky drew 20-20 leaving Morwell Club slightly ahead of Moe on the ladder with one round to go.

TRAFALGAR welcomed Traralgon RSL and consolidated their position in the four with a big
win.
Paul Dawson and his rink of Jim Lawrence, Frank Farrugia and Peter Jonas won 33-11 over
Alan Kanavan.
Ian Miles and his rink of Darryl Horner, Heather Taylor and Darren Kane defeated Morice Gardiner 32-19.
The lone winning Traralgon RSL rink was Ross Sizeland who defeated Nathan Fraser 31-26.

NEWBOROUGH (2) welcomed Drouin (2) with all rinks victorious.
Skipper Graham Cocks and his rink of Graeme Smith, Mary Whelan and Ed Whelan defeated

Joan Goldie had a 33-9 win over David Tayles and Gary Ingley defeated Brian Thorpe 24-19.
John Wasiukiewicz defeated Andrew Kidd 32-13.

LONGWARRY welcomed Traralgon (2) and had a strong win with Russell White and his rink of
Elio Megetto, Barry White and Jason Lieshout winning 27-9 over Cary Locke.
Adam Proctor defeated Dave Currie 25-11 and Ken Towt defeated Graham Cross 24-20. For the visitors Barry Fernance defeated Matt Eccles 24-19.

MORWELL welcomed Thorpdale and held on to top place on the ladder.

NEERIM District travelled to Traralgon RSL (2) and came home with the points, led by Angus
McGillivray and his rink of Graeme Wingrove, Greg Bond and Shane Hogan who defeated Jeff
Blythman 36-20.
Peter Brookes defeated Ron Osler 25-17 and Trevor Kuhnell defeated Max Gibbins 22-16.
The home team gained points when John Farquhar defeated Peter Throup 27-16.

BOOLARRA welcomed Newborough (3) and the visitors handled the slick green well with Jim
Cuthbertson and his rink of Chris Wagstaff, Ann-Mary Ryan and Wayne Butler defeating Bob Allen 40-18.
Alan Ryan defeated Darren Napier 26-23 and Robbert Cook defeated Terry Parker 25-10.
For the home team Stan Williams defeated Michael Holroyd 26-24.

TRARALGON (4) had a big win over Warragul (3). Ian Wills won 29-13, Stuart Hulse 23-21 and Col Mayman 28-15.

TRAFALGAR (2), with Chris Bortignon winning 29-21, Bruce Giles 26-21, Mal Clymo 32-23 and Tony Dawson 21-17, had a clean sweep over Drouin (3).

TRARALGON (5) 16-91 had a big win over Morwell (4) 0-42 with Ron Hales and his rink of Muriel Johnson, Leanne Boyes and Jim Goodwin coming back from being 17-0 down after seven ends to win 26-20. Gordon Slimmon won 34-13 and John Richardson 31-9.
CHURCHILL 15-70 defeated Garfield (2) 1-55 with Bill Brown winning 24-17 and Chris Thomas 26-18. Shirley Turner and Barry Johnson drew 20-20.
NEERIM District (2) 14-69 defeated Traralgon RSL (3) 2-63. For Neerim District (2) Mal Collins won 27-22 and Jim Schroeder won 26-17. For the visitors Margaret Morley won 24-16.
MORWELL Club (2) 16-96 defeated Moe (3) 0-43 with Gail Rejmer winning 29-11. Beryl Noblett won 30-17 and Lisa Arnold won 37-15.

MORWELL Club welcomed Drouin and faced stiff competition losing all three rinks.
Sheryl Atkinson and her rink of Ron Westrup, Elaine Thorpe and Mark Atkinson had a 28-18
win over Beryl Noblett and her team of Iyoko Yoshimura, Sue Karleusa and Tara Harle. Maureen Leighton and her rink of John Leighton, Mary Firth and Les Firth had a 17-14 win over Jan Karleusa and her team of Dashaa Martin, Michael Skinner and Gail Rejmer.
Denise Hamilton and her rink of Graeme Aubrey, Jan Aubrey and Denis Throup won 23-15 over Tess Borg and her rink of Jody Capp, Roger Rejmer and Bernie Kirkup.

victory over Lorraine Horton. Carmel Goss won 27-15 over Val Griffiths and for Moe Chris O’Reilly won 19-18 over Adrienne Birchall.

DROUIN (2) at home had a good win over Morwell Club (2) with Margaret Owens and
her rink of Necip Akarsu, Andre De Waele and Irene Dawson winning 33-7 over Betty Burridge.
The other winning Drouin (2) skipper was Mary Andrews with a 19-14 victory over Cheryl
Reynolds.
The lone winning Morwell Club (2) rink was Leanne Broadbent who won 23-12 over Lyn
Jeffrey.
