THE last round of pennant prior to the finals was played in pleasant conditions allowing bowlers to display their talents to the best of their ability.
DIVISION 1
TRARALGON retained their place on top of the ladder despite losing narrowly to third-placed Drouin. Sheryl Atkinson and her rink of Ron Westrup, Elaine Thorpe and Mark Atkinson had a 30-18 win over Paddy Francis and her rink of Bill Francis, Lyn Moffat and Barry Fernance. Maureen Leighton and her rink of John Leighton, Mary Firth and David Tayles had a 24-16 win over Kathy Smiles and her rink of Frank Stake, Rosie Lorenz and Phil Mustoe. The lone winner for Traralgon was Pat Trewin and her rink of Elaine Swan, Garry Trewin and Matthew Higgins who had a 30-14 win over Denise Hamilton and her rink of Graeme Aubrey, Jan Aubrey and Denis Throup leaving Drouin the overall winner by four shots.
Drouin 14-68 defeated Traralgon 2-64
NEWBOROUGH travelled to Morwell and battled hard to eventually come out on top. Jo-Anne Michaels and her rink of Ed Whelan, Mary Whelan and Nosha Michaels had a 25-15 win over Shirley Skinner and her rink of Ross Harford, Judy Tumney and John Osborne. Debbie Kennedy and her rink of Josh Kennedy, Barry Daley and Fran Clark had a 20-14 victory over Glenda Thompson and her rink of Kevin Pigdon, Letti Mizzi and Wayne Bishop. For the home team Rita Reddiex and her rink of Bill Tumney, Lou Edge and Russell Williams had a 22-11 win over Joan Goldie and her team of Robert Goldie, Jeff Wetzel and Julie Jackson.
Newborough 14-56 defeated Morwell 2-48
MORWELL Club had a good win at Traralgon RSL with Beryl Noblett and her rink of Iyoko Yoshimura, Sue Karleusa and Tara Harle having a 19-14 win over Shirley McKenzie and her rink of John Farquhar, Julie Sutcliffe and Joe Ward. Jan Karleusa and her rink of Dashaa Martin, Michael Skinner and Gail Rejmer had an 18-14 win over Elaine Muir and her rink of Titch Hore, Margaret Morley and Max Aumann. The lone Traralgon RSL winner was Margaret Gibbins and her rink of Adrianna Eaton, Max Gibbins and Jeff Blythman over Tess Borg and her rink of Roger Rejmer, Bernie Kirkup and Nobby Noblett with a score of 20-15.
Morwell Club 14-52 defeated Traralgon RSL 2-48
WARRAGUL had a good win over Trafalgar. Janette Gallasch and her rink of Matt Draisma, Elsie Hefford and Peter Gallasch won 19-9 over Heather Taylor and her rink of Pat Tatterson, Peter Watson and Ian Miles. Linda McCoy and her rink of Margaret Keefe, Bob Currie and Andrew Glover won 22-13 over Mary Holdsworth and her rink of Carol Saunders, Darren Kane and Ken Capper. Sue Robinson and her rink of Barbara Evans, Tim Anderson and Paul Dawson were the lone Trafalgar winning rink with a 20-14 win over Kerri Currie and her rink of Alison Matthews, John Vickerman and Graeme Davis.

DIVISION 2
NEWBOROUGH (2) welcomed Morwell (2) and enjoyed a clean sweep as they won all three rinks. Carmel Goss and her rink of Glenys Perkins, Jenny Cocks and Robbert Cook won 31-8 over Jan Whelan. The other winning Newborough rinks were Heather Mooney winning 21-15 and Adrienne Birchall winning 35-13.

TRARALGON (2) with Dettie Wylie and her rink of Lee Olding, Bob Dykstra and Chris Ward had a 30-7 win over Margaret Owens. May Cross defeated Lyn Jeffrey 27-15 and Janis Kirby defeated Mary Andrews 24-16.
Traralgon (2) 16-81 defeated Drouin (2) 0-38
MOE visited Warragul (2) and Lorraine Horton and her rink of Sue Allford, Olive Lang and Steve Pallot won 27-15 over Gabrielle Draisma. Other winning skippers were Chris O’Reilly winning 21-16 and Val Griffiths winning 25-18.
Moe 16-73 defeated Warragul (2) 0-49
MORWELL Club (2) with only one rink up lead by Betty Burridge and her rink of Duncan Hanlon, Christine McCowan and Brett Harle won 24-11 over Karren Sheers. For Neerim District Pat Fraser-Aurisch won 17-12 and Cookie Halligan and Cheryl Reynolds drew 20-20 leaving Morwell Club (2) the winners by eight shots. Neerim District was astounded to find they actually rose up the ladder to gain a home final against Drouin (2).

DIVISION 3
GARFIELD 14-71 defeated Trafalgar (2) 2-53 with Sue Stanfield and her rink of Damian Brick, Gillian Harper and Barry Johnson winning 33-12 and Lex Taylor won 21-17. For Trafalgar (2) Helen Robertson won 24-17.
Newborough (3) 14-62 defeated Morwell (3) 2-50 with Ann-Mary Ryan winning 25-13 and Marcia Evans 22-15. The Morwell (3) winner was Jenny Duncan winning 22-15.
Yinnar 14-77 defeated Warragul (3) 2-50 with Meredith Kennon and her rink of Kerryn Nicholson, Peter Bramley and Tim Roche winning 32-11 and Jenni Harris winning 30-19. The Warragul winner was Franciska Axford who won 20-15.
Drouin (3) 14-55 defeated Traralgon (3) 2-50 with Gwen Price winning 27-10 and Ethel Van Maanan winning 21-19. Muriel Johnson won 21-7 for Traralgon (3).

DIVISION 4
MORWELL Club (3) 10-37 defeated Moe (3), Trafalgar (3) 10-41 defeated Traralgon RSL (2) 0-36. Yinnar (2) 10-50 defeated Yarragon 0-23, Yallourn North 8-49 defeated Traralgon (4) 2-28 and Newborough (4) 8-50 defeated Drouin (4) 2-29.

Wet weather hits the last regular season round in Saturday Pennant

BOWLERS woke to constant rain last Saturday, which continued throughout the morning making play in the afternoon look a remote possibility, however around lunchtime the weather fined up to enable bowls to start and the afternoon became quite pleasant as sides battled for places in the final four.

DIVISION 1
TRARALGON travelled to Newborough with Matt Ferrari and his team of Kirsty Van den Hoff, Kevin Enguell and Ian Kirkup showing the way with a 25-10 win over Kevin Lovett and his team of Brian Carpenter, Tony Knipping and George Lambos.
Vin McIlwain and his team of Shane Chapman, Abe Roeder and Chris Ward were too good for Tommy Lodge and his team of Barry Daley, Paul Sherman and Scott Jones. For the home team Nosha Michaels and his rink of Jo-Anne Michaels, Rod Lewis and John Backman defeated Phil Mustoe and his rink of Chris Thomas, Ian Hilsley and Damien Barnes 23-18. Alan Grubb and his team of Josh Kennedy, Bob Goldie and Ryan Marston won 24-17 over James Scullin with his rink of Ron Sherlock, Maurice Sutcliffe and Pat Trewin played on a grass green which was a credit to Newborough greenkeeper Scott Jones considering the constant rain prior to the match.
Traralgon 14-83 defeated Newborough 4-75
MOE travelled to Traralgon RSL facing the daunting task of playing on a heavy wet green and having to win hoping Morwell Club lost to enable them to escape relegation.
Sandy Caines and his rink of Paul Louis Read, Bob Rennie and Barry Hawkett got Moe off to a good start with a 28-13 win over Morice Gardiner and his rink of Paul Matters, Chris Mackintosh and Dave Morley. They were assisted by Steve Pallot and his rink of Ian Caines, Dave Mander and Michael Smogavec who defeated Alan Kanavan and his rink of Dale Wilson, Max Aumann and Chris Brown 23-19. Traralgon RSL fought back with Beau Williamson and his rink of Tich Hore, Kevin Durwood and Rick Lukey winning 25-21 over Jayde Leech and his rink of Lachlan Sim, Michele Muccillo and Banger Harvey. Ross Sizeland and his rink of George Cargill, Ross McKenzie and Terry Hunter defeated Ted Kuklinsky and his rink of Les Brown, Jan Rudy and Stuart Caines 23-21 leaving Moe the winners by 13 shots and retaining their Division 1 spot for next season.

DROUIN, with only one rink up in Sheryl Atkinson and her rink of Graeme Aubrey, Maureen Leighton and Les Firth, won 30-19 over Graeme Davis and his rink of Ken Landman, Linda McCoy and Peter Gallasch, which was not good enough to defeat Warragul who had Dave Smith and his rink of Matt Draisma, John Vickerman and Jim Power defeating Toby Wallace and his team of Denise Hamilton, Arthur Moore and Dale Hendrick 26-24.
Matt Schreyer and his rink of David Alderman, Ian MacCartney and Noel Rubenstein had a 26-25 win over Mark Atkinson and his rink of David McIlfatrick, Clive Newman and John Leighton. Andrew Glover and his team of Des Stephens, Ken Scammell and Janette Gallasch won 28-20 over Samantha Atkinson and her rink of Steve Barr, Jan Aubrey and Mick Fleming, leaving Drouin tied and losing the right to a home final as Trafalgar inched ahead on the ladder.
Warragul 11-99 drew with Drouin 7-99
TRAFALGAR had a narrow three shot victory at Morwell Club with the winner jumping Drouin on the ladder and gaining a home final, while Morwell Club slipped to the bottom of the ladder and a likely drop to Division 2 next season. Nathan Fraser and his rink of Mary Holdsworth, Graham Hill and Tim Anderson won 25-12 over Neil Whitelaw and his rink of Vaughan Reimers, Michael Skinner and Tess Borg.
Tim Fraser and his rink of Col Carmichael, Ian Riley and Ken Capper won 27-21 over David Stevens and his rink of Zac Arnold, Alan Campbell and Wayne Arnold. For the locals Glenn Trembath and his rink of David Patience, David Broadbent and Nobby Noblett defeated Paul Dawson and his rink of Terry Robertson, Frank Farrugia and Peter Jonas 27-23. Brett Harle and his team of Roger Rejmer, Duncan Hanlon and Tara Harle won 28-16 over Ian Miles and his rink of Daryl Horner, Peter Rosenboom and Darren Kane leaving Trafalgar the winner by three shots.

DIVISION 2
THORPDALE finished the season with a big win over Traralgon RSL (2). David Ferguson and his rink of Shane Chambers, Dylan Gunn and Danny Vanzuylen won 41-10 over Ron Osler. Dwayne Gunn defeated Greg McRonald 31-13, Brendan Jennings defeated Max Gibbins 27-21 and Ross Kennedy defeated Jeff Blythman 24-19.
Thorpdale 18-1 defeated Traralgon RSL (2) 0-63
LONGWARRY travelled to Drouin (2) and Matt Eccles and his rink of John McCarthy, Robert Proctor and Hank Metselaar defeated Bruce Andrews 37-9. Adam Proctor defeated Brian Thorpe 22-19 and Ken Towt defeated Neil Bullen 22-20. For Drouin (2) David Tayles defeated Russell White 27-23.
Longwarry 16-104 defeated Drouin (2) 2-75
TRARALGON (2) had a big victory over Newborough (2) with Dave Currie and his rink of Garry Trewin, Frank Stake and Bill Francis winning 34-17 over John Wasiukiewicz. Barry Fernance defeated Graham Cocks 27-15 and Graham Cross defeated Joan Goldie 28-15. For Newborough (2), Gary Ingley defeated Cary Locke 25-18.
Traralgon (2) 16-107 defeated Newborough (2) 2-72
MORWELL maintained top spot with a resounding victory over Neerim District. Nathan Cook won 29-24 over Angus McGillivray, Ron Lyfield defeated Peter Brooks 20-16 and David Cook defeated Trevor Kuhnell 27-24. Neerim District was well served by Peter Throup who won 30-23 over Laurie Melhuish.

DIVISION 3
NEWBOROUGH (3) welcomed Traralgon (3) with the visitors winning all four rinks. Bill Bishop defeated Jim Cuthbertson 24-18, May Cross defeated Michael Holroyd 25-19, Ron Baker defeated Rod Dixon 19-15 and Brendon Smiles defeated Robbert Cook 25-20.
Traralgon (3) 18-93 defeated Newborough (3) 0-72
YINNAR had a good win over Warragul (2) but failed to dislodge them from fourth place on the ladder by a solitary point. Murray De La Haye and his rink of Gordon Smith, Peter Bramley and Russ Peters won 38-15 over Paul Simmons and Gavin Osborne defeated Bill Clappers 21-14. The visitors were saved by Bob Currie defeating Tim Roche 21-19 and David Gatewood defeating Luka Djudurovic 23-20.
Yinnar 14-98 defeated Warragul (2) 4-73
GARFIELD travelled to Morwell (2) and came home with a clean sweep as Nick Henwood defeated Bob Wilson 24-23, Anthony Young defeated Ken Turner 24-21, Steve Bassed defeated John Osborne 26 20 and Steve Whyte defeated Bill Tyben 24-18.
Garfield 18-98 defeated Morwell (2) 0-82
MOE (2) hosted Boolarra and Brian Rodgers defeated Stan Williams 19-16, Leigh Dodd defeated Darren Napier 26-17 and John Woods defeated Terry Parker 25-20. The lone Boolarra winner was Bob Allen defeating Val Griffiths 21-20.

WARRAGUL (3) completed a clean sweep against Yallourn North with Pat Hammond winning 21-19, Lester Mason 29-14, Keith Wilkins 27-21 and William Clarke 30-22.

YARRAGON had a day out with Jason Roberts and his rink of Gordon Wright, Charles Hunter and Murray Grigg winning 52-7 and Jarrod Grigg and his rink of Trevor Griffin, Ross McDermott and Marjan Pazek winning 48-11. Richard Polmear won 39-8 and for Drouin (3) Peter Hone won 30-13.

TOP team Traralgon (4) came unstuck against a Newborough (4) side with Peter Policha defeating Terry Lawrence 31-20 and Alan Luck defeating Stuart Hulse 28-17. For the home team Ian Wills defeated Maurice Ludlow 31-16 and Col Mayman defeated Charlie Cadby 23-19.
Newborough (4) 14-94 defeated Traralgon (4) 4-91
TRAFALGAR (2) had a narrow win with skippers Mal Clymo winning 21-19 and Bruce Giles 31-10. For the visitors from Morwell Graham Hutchinson won 28-20 and Ian Auld won 29-16.

TRARALGON RSL (3) 12-67 defeated Traralgon (5) 4-59 with Frank Metcalf and his rink of Nathan Forester, Jim Lawler and Ian Eddy winning 30-17 and for Traralgon (5) winning skippers were Joyce Hales 20-18 and Ron Hales 22-19.
Churchill 14 -78 defeated Moe (3) 2-71 with Bill Brown winning 32-18 and Shirley Turner 29-25. The Moe (3) winner was Wayne Lock winning 28-17.
Neerim District (2) 14-72 defeated Morwell (4) 2-63 with Russell Meehan winning 32-15 and Jim Schroeder winning 19-14. For Morwell (4) Daryl Coleman won 34-21.
Morwell Club (2) 14-83 defeated Garfield (2) 2-60. Beryl Noblett won 33-13 and Lisa Arnold 28-22. The Garfield winner was Don Knight 25-22.

DIVISION 6
THORPDALE (2) 10-48 defeated Newborough (5) 0-40, Yinnar/Churchill 10-16 defeated Traralgon (6) 0-0, Trafalgar (4) 10-16 defeated Yallourn North 0-0, Trafalgar (3) 10-73 defeated Longwarry (2) 0-24 and Morwell Club (3) 10-51 defeated Boolarra (2) 0-36.

FINALS SCHEDULE
THIS Saturday is semi-final day with all finals played on the home green of the higher ranked team.
In Division 1, hot favourites Traralgon host old rivals Newborough, who are aiming to reverse their result of last week. Trafalgar hosts Drouin in the minor semi-final in what should be a keenly fought out affair.
In Division 2, the heavyweight teams of Morwell and Longwarry clash at Morwell with Longwarry looking to extend its 10 game winning streak. In the minor semi-final Newborough (2) hosts Traralgon (2) with the home team looking to avenge it recent loss.
In Division 3, Garfield and Traralgon (3) do battle at Garfield and Morwell (2) is home to Warragul (2).
In Division 4, Traralgon (4) hosts Trafalgar (2) and Morwell (3) hosts Yallourn North.
In Division 5, Morwell Club (2) hosts Neerim District (2) and Churchill hosts Garfield (2).
In Division 6, Trafalgar (3) and Trafalgar (4) do battle and Yinnar/Churchill hosts Newborough (5) at Churchill.
