MOE captain Marc Mchallam was named Gippsland Soccer League best and fairest for 2014 at the season presentation night last week.
The key Red Devils midfielder missed the grand final through suspension, but was a key cog throughout the season and last year’s league championship.
Dynamic Sale United midfielder Tommy Nguyen received another Scott Frendo medal as players’ player, having also won the award in 2012.
Nick D’Alessandro of Falcons 2000 edged out Traralgon City’s Peter Lietzau for the senior coaches’ award, while Churchill’s unbeaten season saw it named club of the year.
There was a three way tie for both major awards in the women’s division, with Abbey Ellen Taylor (Tyers SC), Rachel Coulthard (Fortuna 60), Stephanie Pridgeon (Tyers SC) sharing the golden boot, while Coulthard and Taylor were named best and fairest along with Emma Cook of Newborough Yallourn United.
