CFA responds to DASMA fire
A FACTORY fire at the DASMA recycling facility in Morwell early Friday morning has caused an estimated $300,000 damage.
CFA brigades from Morwell, Traralgon, Churchill, Moe and Yallourn North, comprising about 20 firefighters, attended the blaze at 12.48am and took about an hour to contain the fire.
CFA District 27 operations manager Bill Johnson said the fire was not believed to be suspicious at the time of print.
“There were some piles of plastic, paper and other recycling material burning,” Mr Johnson said.
“It took us a bit over an hour to bring it under control and the next period of time was spent overhauling and blacking out.”
The fire was controlled about 1.54am and CFA worked through to about 6.30am.
HAZMAT incident in Traralgon
EMERGENCY services have isolated a package which caused sickness at the post office in McMahon Street, Traralgon on Friday.
CFA, Ambulance Victoria and police attended and evacuated the building when a package giving off vapours or fumes made people feel ill.
Ambulance Victoria officers gave treatment to some of the affected patients.
The package was isolated and placed in a drum for further investigation.
Police seeking information about Morwell theft
Two people entered the Morwell Transfer Station by cutting the fence, unscrewed four CCTV cameras and left on 14 September at 10.30pm, according to police.
