Robbery charges laid

A 68 year-old Morwell man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with robbing the Churchill Post Office armed with two bound pieces of pipe to resemble a double barrel shotgun.

Robert William Wheeler faced Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon and was denied bail.

Charges include the alleged incident at Australia Post Churchill on 21 April where Wheeler is accused of robbing the facility of $4972 in cash.

He is charged with attempting to rob Coles Express in Moe on 19 April and Australia Post Moe on 4 May, allegedly having with him the two pieces of brass pipe bound together with black tape to resemble a double barrel shotgun.

Wheeler is also charged with stealing a $15 grey windcheater from Kmart in Moe on 3 May.

He will re-appear in Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on 27 July for a committal mention.

Drive-through incident

A 35 year-old Yarram man was arrested on Saturday night after he allegedly collided with a car in the Traralgon Hungry Jack’s drive-through.

Traralgon police alleged the man rammed his Ford Courier into another vehicle several times before police were called to the Argyle Street premises about 6.50pm.

It’s alleged the man returned a blood alcohol reading of .126.

The man was charged with unlicensed driving, driving an unregistered vehicle, displaying false plates, drink driving and resisting police arrest.

He was released on bail to appear in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court in August.

Missing: Ruby Stark

Police are asking for assistance to locate a 15 year-old girl who was reported missing on Tuesday, 25 April.

Ruby (pictured) was last seen by relatives on Thursday 20 April saying she was headed for Warragul.

She has not returned to her Stratford home address.

Ruby is described as being 170cm tall, medium build with long black hair.
