TRARALGON Centre Plaza (TCP) are celebrating Christmas by giving back to the community.
The plaza made a generous donation to Morwell Neighbourhood House on Friday, December 10.
Late last month, the centre hosted a Santa Arrival Breakfast, which saw more than $1000
raised in tickets.
Many businesses within the Plaza donated their time and products to help make the event a success.
For the event, Red Fox Party Supplies donated balloon displays, and other retailers provided food at a special price.
Notably, Boost Juice and Donut King helped out on the day.
TCP has donated all the money raised from the tickets to the local Foodbank, run by Morwell Neighbourhood House (MNH).
“We are all about supporting the community,” TCP marketing manager Adele Nardino said.
Ms Nardino said the support from TCP businesses in their efforts has been “amazing”.
The money will go towards items to go in the Foodbank’s Christmas hampers, which manager Tracie Lund said MNH have received more than
200 requests for so far.
“All the support we get from the community ensures that we are able to support the growing need at Christmas time… we want everyone to have the best Christmas possible,” Ms Lund said.
There have been very little fundraising opportunities for MNH during the pandemic, Ms
Lund explained, and they are grateful for the donation from TCP and the wider community.
“It really shows the true spirit of the community,” she said.
The MNH Christmas Donation Drive, sees the charity assemble donations of non-perishable foods into hampers.
These hampers are then distributed to local families that are in need of a hand this Christmas.
To assist MNH, a tub was placed outside TCP gift-wrapping station for community members to donate non-perishable items to the charity.
TCP also partnered with outreach program Mick’s Kitchen, donating $500 to help fund a
Christmas dinner for those accessing their services.
