Youth charged following stabbing

A TRARALGON youth, who was allegedly stabbed with a bottle on Friday night, has been released from Latrobe Regional Hospital.

According to Traralgon police Sergeant Brent Muir, the stabbing occurred after an argument between two groups at McDonalds Restaurant Traralgon.

Sgt Muir said one group left the venue but was later followed by the other group.

He said the stabbing occurred near Post Office Place about 10pm after one group member was hit with a skateboard.

“The (stabbing victim) intervened to try and separate the two but a person from the (other) party stabbed the youth’s left shoulder with a (broken glass) bottle,” Sgt Muir said.

Sgt Muir said the alleged offenders fled the scene but police later caught and arrested a 16 year-old male who attacked the victim with the bottle.

The 16 year-old youth has been charged and bailed to appear at the Latrobe Valley Childrens’ Court on 28 May.
