A LATROBE Valley doctor was fined $1000 and had her drivers licence suspended for one month after she was found guilty of a hit and run incident in Traralgon last year.
The Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court heard Evette Markos was on her way to Latrobe Regional Hospital on 20 July, 2011 when she failed to give way to a car driven by Amy Mommers at the intersection of Shakespeare Street and Craig Burn Place.
Dr Markos left the scene and did not report the collision to the police or speak to the victims of the crash.
Ms Mommers and her passenger, Brayden Pratt, were injured in the accident.
In handing down the sentence, Magistrate Mellas said because of her education and training, Dr Markos should have been in a position to make a better decision.
