Residents relocated

RISING flood waters had 34 residents relocating to the region’s relief centre on Monday night.

Latrobe City Council reported 54 people requested for assistance, 14 individuals were given temporary homes and six dogs were rescued, before the flood levels reached over five metres at Traralgon Creek.

“The emergency centre was open last (Monday) night… and there were significant traffic and management issues, as you can imagine,” Latrobe City Mayor Ed Vermeulen said.

“It is terrible on the people it has affected and of course the people put out of their homes.

“I believe I haven’t seen it like this for 60 years, it is a serious situation.”
