Jail term for Moe man

A MOE man has been sentenced to 18 months jail with a non-parole period of eight months for a “one-man crime spree” last year.

He was also ordered restitution of $18,640 in stolen property, which included several Makita drills, iPods and iPhones.

Last Friday, the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court heard Lee Zarifopoulos had conducted a series of thefts from supermarkets, shopping centres and stores in Moe and Trafalgar, as well as Melbourne suburbs to fund a drug addiction.

The court heard as at Friday, he had served 158 days in custody.

Zarifopoulos pleaded guilty to 44 charges against him for offences committed between May and August 2012.

His driver’s licence was also cancelled and he was suspended from driving for 12 months.
