Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester, welcomed Air Force cadets from across Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley at the Avalon Airshow.
Mr Chester said the cadets are a highly regarded youth development initiative both in Australia and internationally.
“Australia’s Air Force Cadet organisation has over 6000 youth participating in activities that build leadership, self-reliance, confidence, teamwork and communication,” Mr Chester said
“Today’s youth face a challenging world in which to grow and mature and, as someone who grew up in the regional area of Gippsland Victoria, I am aware that these challenges can be amplified for young people living in regional areas.
“Youth development organisations such as the Australian Air Force Cadets allow young people in regional areas the same opportunities as those growing up in our major cities.”
At the air show, local cadets had the opportunity to watch aerobatic displays, meet currently serving Air Force personnel, and see a large number of aircraft, including fast jets, helicopters and recreated World War One replicas.
