GIPPSLAND youth girls teams, Warragul Colts, Morwell Tigers, Bairnsdale and Maffra, will play in a female football showcase in Maffra on Friday night.
The players range between 13 to 18 years, with some girls having represented Victoria Country at the recent National Championships and some playing in the inaugural Gippsland Power youth girls team.
The double header will be held at Morrison Street Oval, Maffra with the first game to begin at 5.20pm.
AFL Gippsland football development manager and administrator of the Gippsland Youth Girls League Chelsea Caple said it was a great chance to showcase the girls’ skills under lights.
“We are amazed by the calibre of football that has been played by the girls in the rounds in the lead up to this double header,” Caple said.
“With Bairnsdale taking top spot on the ladder after a win against Warragul Colts last week and Maffra scoring their first win against Morwell, there will be two great exhibitions of football on the Friday Night.”
