The end of an era was marked this week as residents across the Latrobe Valley converged on the Traralgon outdoor pool for one last splash before the pool closes permanently.
The pool was abuzz with activity across the long weekend with stand-up paddleboarding, street games, face painting, bungee run and jumping castles.
The outdoor pool will now make way for the eagerly awaited Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre which will feature an indoor pool with eight Olympic-length lanes and seating for 500 spectators.
Other features will include an indoor water play zone, a warm water 25-metre heated pool, spa and sauna area, a wellness centre, cafe, retail precinct and change facilities.
Construction on the new facility is expected to begin mid-year and is slated for completion in mid-2021.
