A ROARING river and flash flooding has not dampened the spirits of Walhalla residents, despite receiving about 140 milimetres of rain in 24 hours.
Landslips, fallen trees and a raging river will not affect this weekend’s Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, according to the tourism group.
Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Tourism president Michael Leaney said business was back to normal.
“The river is like an absolute roaring torrent but we have seen rain like this before, it’s becoming usual,” Mr Leaney said.
The main road into Walhalla was cut off by a fallen tree and mudslide on Tuesday morning, but was soon cleared by residents Robert Ashworth, Russell Wright, Brendon Cameron, Andrew Sestokus, Mal Rudge, Rae-Anne Vincent and Michael Leaney.
