Perfect game

SHOOTING

MORWELL Field and Game shooter Jorja Elfring blitzed the boys at a Bairnsdale club shoot this month, registering an unprecedented perfect round.

The 20 year-old shot 25 out of 25 live game simulation targets for the round, spurred on by sibling rivalry, and became the first female shooter on record to achieve a flawless run at the venue.

“It was pretty cool. It was a pretty good competition between me and my brother Jackson for the day, he’s a good shot,” Elfring said.

“He shot 24 that round so I beat him by one… but he beat me overall for the day.

“I was shaking, I could hardly hold the gun (for the final targets).”

Upon taking up shooting two years ago, Elfring found the traditionally male dominated sport anything but intimidating.

With exponential growth in female numbers, and a welcoming male contingent, the avid duck hunter had no trouble settling in.

“We certainly bring it to the boys a fair bit these days,” Elfring said.

“They’re all really nice. All the field and game members are awesome Gippsland wide.

“My brother and Dad do it and I used to go out and watch and score with them then had a crack one day and didn’t let the gun go; I just love it, it’s just a good family day.”
