A resident at Bupa Traralgon who was COVID-19 positive has died.

In a statement, a Bupa spokesperson said they believed pre-existing conditions “most likely contributed to (the resident’s) passing”.

“The resident’s family has given Bupa consent to share this news, but has asked for privacy, and we thank everyone for respecting those wishes,” they said.

“The thoughts and deepest sympathies of all of us at Bupa are with them at this time.”

All residents and staff at the facility were tested again yesterday.

Bupa confirmed 17 cases of coronavirus have been recorded at the Traralgon facililty, including 6 residents; 8 employees; 2 agency staff; plus the original visiting clinician who was the first case registered.

The Department of Health and Human Services has also recorded one additional case that was a close contact of an active case from the home.
