Meteors strike true

MOE Meteors enjoyed a flawless Country Basketball League Gippsland double-double header over the weekend, winning all four games across men’s and women’s divisions.

The Meteors accounted for Bairnsdale and Warragul in both grades to keep their unbeaten records alive.

Moe’s dual eight-point victories pushed it to first on the men’s ladder with three wins from as many matches, while the women also went top with two from two.

Simon Vannapraseuth and Luke Shelley starred for the men, while Carly Mullen-Bianconi and Jaz Shelley did some heavy lifting for the women.

Jaz Shelley went on a tear in the Meteors’ 112-49 triumph over Bairnsdale, knocking down four three-pointers en route to a game high 36 points.

Churchill also enjoyed a winning weekend, knocking off powerhouse Western Port in both divisions.
